Alternator problems? Just hit it with a hammer!

So my alternator is on it's way out. I got a quote from Myles Balfe in Phibsboro for a reconditioned one - €195 (ripoff Ireland alive and well). Anyway, I found a lad on Dorset Lane, just off Dorset St who'll recondition it for €90 but I have to take it off and the ABS stuff is in the way, it seems that I have to disassemble the passenger side suspension and whip out the driveshaft to get at the fecker.

Anyway he gave it a gentle tap with a hammer and screwdrive and the alternator light went off - got me into work anyway - a good tip to know that moght stop you getting stranded.
