Hey guys, had a bit of spare time so I had a go at sprayin the rocker cover. Wanted to do a mad colour so went into Halfords and picked out this cool blue flip paint with metal flake. Also whiles I was at it I fitted a new induction kit. Let me know what ye think!
![]() Ill start by how I went about it, The induction pipe was too long so I measured it to fit the original pipe then got the grinder and cut it. ![]() ![]() I filed all the sharp bits and while I was at it cleaned out the throttle body, it was manky dirty! ![]() ![]() After that I fitted and secured it in place. ![]() Lovely sound off it now and a bit of difference with the power as the old one was very old and clogged. ![]() Next I removed the rocker cover by removing all the bolts and pipes. The old paint was put on with a brush without primer by previous owner so it was a very thin layer. I used paint stripper and wire wool to remove the majority of paint. ![]() ![]() Next I got course p300 sand paper and got the rest of the paint off. ![]() This also provided a good key for the primer. After this I primed it with five layers of primer, which I lightly sanded in between with wet and dry sand paper. After the primer had fully dried I applied five blue base coats. ![]() ![]() I then let this dry fully and applied the top pearl coat (five layers too) After all this was dried I applied three coats of laquer. ![]() ![]() Left this then over night in my bedroom by the radiator. Next day then put the new rocker cover and spark plug oil seals and fitted everything back ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
