Mark you and your apple pc's.
Dell seem to be very good and ya can make your own laptop with the best possible spec but it'll cost ya.

I did this post in computers class in school

Hard to find anywhere that does really cheap laptops, Brian. Are you looking for something cutting edge and do you need it immediately? If not your best bet might be to wait for the next Lidl/Aldi offer on a laptop. Otherwise have a look on Insight UK or Scan (Komplett are useless for laptops).

space is my main concern , any laptop ive seen spec wise cost around 1200 euro , my pc works fine but the moniter 17" is huge and takes up half a room , might just buy a flat screen , bury the box some where and run a cable to monitor and use wireless mouse and keypad , if that makes sence .

If you're planning on keeping it in the house don't get a laptop - you're paying for the size and weight saving and it is compromised on performance compared to a desktop unless you pay big money. Komplett do a good line on flat screens - 17" LCD with TV tuner for €340

http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=124838&cks=SPC

As for a home computer, if it's only used for email and web I would seriously look at one of these -...
http://www.apple.com/macmini/ €500, size of a car stereo, no fan, no viruses, no microsoft (unless you want to install Office for mac) no hassles!

I agree with MarkC though, if you don’t need the portability stick with a desktop, you could buy a small case and flat panel monitor for a fraction of the cost.

I love the Mac minis too, so cool aren’t they, I'm just back from the Apple Expo in Paris so I’ve had a Mac overdose for the last few days. I think I’m being converted slowly [:I] I've spent the last month in work playing with Xserve RAID's as a storage solution; only Apple can make a box of Hard Drives look sexy [8D]

By the way you can buy Pentium M powered iBook around June 2006, wink wink, they do exist nod nod :-)

I'm glad to hear your seeing the light Mark. I'll do my bit to lure you away from the dark side.

The XServe's are mindblowing. We'd love to get one in here to sort out our archives. I have a dream of a room containing 15000 CD's magically turning into a 3 inches of rack space. No more phisycal CD's, just images...

The budget fascists won't let us have nice toys though.
