haha that's funny because i am doing that right this second i don't really think its that hard its just if you destroy the seals cant buy new ones and if i did crack the new roof could be pretty hard to find another. or do the windsreen centers make up their own class thanks for the help

The sealant the windscreen centres use is about 50 or 60 euro a tube or so ive been told - he could of been talkin bull though. I reckon tiger seal would do as its good tack. but they use that special stuff for a reason so its a hard one to call. Windscreen centres usually buy in the glass to fit as they are laminated and curved. Id only say they cut them to if its flat pane of glass.
Googled this: In order to comply with FMVSS 212 – Windshield Retention and FMVSS 216 – Roof Crush Resistance, the factory uses a urethane adhesive sealant with bonded strength of not less than 40 kilograms per square centimeter or 569 pounds per square inch for certain bonded windshields and rear windows on vehicles. A Urethane adhesive sealant of at least equivalent strength must be used to maintain these retention and roof crush standards when windshield glass replacements are performed by either the dealer or an outside glass shop. |
