What's Kansas like Dude? Living, Car Scene, People, Job opportunities etc.?

We'll be looking to relocate in the next while but haven't decided where as of yet.

PETROL is cheap compared to home, Premium is about $3.20 per gallon or $0.85a litre, regular is about $3.02 or $0.80 a litre! That's only 87 ron though :-P

Granted 2 of the 5 were bought as parts cars but there's my Si & 16v, and then Dickies 1.5x and then a parts 1.5x and Si.

Ya James always the way, mine is the same, not a clean up close but someday!! Ya they are a bit different anyway and the auld folk like em as long as they arent lowered and loud haha.

Ah Kansas is grand, I'm in Wichita so would be a bit more lively up in Kansas City which is far bigger and I've heard good things, easier to fly in/out of too. Car scene here in Wichita leans towards Domestic from what I can tell so far. People are very friendly and helpful. Helps that there are two other Irish guys here at work though. We do tend to band together I guess... things are deffo different to home in terms of socializing so we head out together a lot, otherwise the night would be over at 9 all the time!

Living is cheap in Wichita, and houses even cheaper. Its deffo in the flyover part of the US though so may be difficult to sell on again but you get some house for your money here.

Seems to be more job opportunities here but I had a job coming out, needed to for the Visa. My girlfriend is from Pennsylvania and she had no bother getting a job there when she moved back from Galway in August. We'll see how she gets on in Wichita in January. Its the air capital of the world and medical is big here too so those are the industries to be in for here.

Would I move to Wichita if I had the choice, probably not tbh, Id stay to the coasts, I was born beside the sea afterall. Weather is great here for the last 3 months but supposed to get cold, and gets extremely hot in summer (45)

DC area is really really nice, I'd love to live there, Seattle looks great too, although weather is a bit more like home. North Cali would be awesome. And one of the guys I work with rants about how great Florida is. Every state is pretty much its own country so each has its differences.

Keep an eye on the US visas, theres one just going/gone to vote to open up more for Irish citizens, similar to Aussies deal. Think is an E visa but very similar to the H1B Im on.

Small update, car is just back from Gary (mcd). He fitted some shocks, and did a few jobs on the car. Its driving brilliant again, handles like a go kart.

thanks to Gary for the excellent work, and to paul crex for the shocks.
