From 2020 cars and commercial vehicles over 40 years of age will be NCT & Doe exempt. From May 2018 vehicles between 30-40 years old will have to undergo a test every two years. Two great points from this is it’s a rolling rule and secondly commercial vehicles which are only used for private use will be included.

That's handy, but in fairness, I think all machines should under go test at least every 2 years. I wouldn't agree with no test at all for 40 plus years. That's crazy

Yea to be fair the NCT has improved the standards of cars in the country but I do think for the likes of vintage cars 2years is more realistic due to the limited mileage they probably do.
The insurance industry is whats running the car scene here

I have no idea where I got the info from and its been only 6 months or so! I think it might be an app "shiney app"? I dont know if its true but its definitely a discussion point.
I didn't know about the 30 year 2 year NCT - That's great news! I'm currently driving a CRV but the CRX may get a run out if I can get the time to sort out a few bits on it  .
