Been busy tonight. Only finished shitety college at 6 so by the time I got home and had the dinner it was 7 before I started. No way was I standing out in the rain working so i put up this

:lol!: abit stupid looking but it done the job better then i expected!

I haven't a picture of my new manifold in the thread yet so i took a few of them now. Its an RMF Narrow race header

It took abit of 'modification' to make it fit with the standard fan :P

Out of the car

Only shite thing about it is it hangs low. the damage isn't too bad tho thankfully

progress

Old vs. New. should sort out the oil leaking down my block! the old o-ringless seal wasn't doing the greatest job in the world!

Valve spring removal tool.... 19 socket, extension bar, hammer + magnet!

Abit more off it won't do any harm 8)

Valves out and valve steam seals removed

Keeping things organised!

More updates tomorrow night

been quite busy with this all weekend. it has me withered!

1st off i got a new vtec solenoid gasket and a blueprint thermostat. the spoon one is only a cunt of a yoke for daily driving. it'll be nice for the engine to actually heat up enough now for the heaters to work properly in the car :lol!:

while i sent the head to be skimmed i did abit of cleaning up. the bottom end got a scrubbing

Before:

After:

the valves got abit of buffing too

Before:

After:

I got the head back from the machine shop the next day

Not too much taken off

here's where things got interesting!
The original plan was to send the head off to be skimmed, get it back and put back on the car straight away............ but me being the picky fecker i am couldn't just do that  .. It would have been an awful shame to put it back on the way it was! Eoin Mc done the previous port work to the head and left it in a very bad state. I was lucky he hadn't ruined it completely

Here's a few examples of the bad workmanship i wasn't happy with :|

so i got out the rolls of emery cloth and sand paper!
Before:

After:

I didn't want to go mad polishing and cleaning up the intake ports. as most people here already know abit of turbulence in the intake port is a good thing. I finished em off with 120 grit emery paper

Before:

After:

Before:

After:

I don't actually know what grit paper i went down to on the exhaust side but by the time i was finished it was smooth as feck!!

bit of double sided tape helps keep the sand paper on your finger!! :face:

Next was valve grinding time...... i quite enjoyed this..... oh wait no i didn't

then new genuine honda valve steam seal time..

next up was to reinstall the freshly grinded valves. i had a loan of a valve spring compressor but it was only a big awkward bastard of a yoke so after abit of quick thinking i (and abit of angle grinding) i whipped up this! i turned out to be a very easy way of reinstalling them!

all installed with relative ease

24th april 2012

and the last thing i was up to was saving myself €60 and making my own D.I.Y thermal intake gasket. i'm actually quite proud of this!

marked it out using the old gasket

Half way there

The finished product! all matched up to suit my intake ports

so haven't updated this in a few days

with the head ready to go back on it was ARP headstud time!

Then Genuine Honda headgasket time! I won't make the spurious mistake twice!

Head back on

And Torqued down to the ARP specs

CTR cam's with adjustable cam gears

Very important VTEC oil dowel thingy! It wasn't in my head when i de-assembled it. The last 'mechanic' who was at the head never put it back in  . So i ordered a new one from honda and got a new o-ring too while i was as it!

Cams and journals oiled up!

Cam seal gasket sealer-ed up!

cam caps torqued down to manufactures specs and timing belt back on, timed up and tensioned

Hamp oil filter

now i was either too 'in the zone' or pissed off or both but either way this is where the pictures stopped :lol!:

here's two quick ones i took on my phone

Job done!

So the car has been back running since friday. was running well since then but there was some slight issue with idle and cutting out when coming to a stop at traffic lights, cross roads etc. etc... It was only a minor TPS issue down to it not being at the correct position. I was up with Inspector01 today for a re-tune and he sorted it out for me  ... He also done an amazing job with mapping. the cr-x now runs better then it ever has. its waaay smoother up thru the revs now. feels like its pulling harder up top too but i can't be sure. my 'arse dyno' isn't the best :P Bishopscourt next weekend will tell alot
