The log book can be change very easily, besides it is a 1.6.

you'll tax it as a 1.6 no diff
you'll insure it as a 1.6 vt

No probs
Thats all above board then?
Whats involved in changing the log book?
Might give the guy a ring the weekend.

I think everyone went through the 1.5 vs Vtec thing. I did and you wouldnt believe the diference just buy the Vtec straight off cheaper easier and youll have the right machine not just a copy..

Where abouts are ya from? If ya want a spin in a vtec there are plenty of us around with em, maybe meet up some time..

Having said that, after driving Brians Si at the weekend, the Si is not too far behind the SiR. And it's easier to insure and probably easier to find a good example.

I agree with mark, the dohc non vtec engine is very quick, and below vtec id say its marginally better.

There really isnt the huge difference that people think.

Agree with that (just to make up for making you narky by suggesting the 1.5 is lighter! My VTEC is the main driver at the moment, but when I take the 16V out for a spin, I don't feel I'm missing out at all, and I often catch myself smiling at how much fun it is. Up to VTEC, there's almost no difference.

Ummm....not according to the specs page on the site:

Si: 95.4 lbft @ 4,500
SiR: 106.3 lbft @ 5,700

Still, the Si's a bit lighter too. Like I said - not much in it

There 1.5x and Si specs Mark, these specs on my site were taken from honda.co.jp, converted from kgm/sec to lbft.

D15B 95lbft @ 4500
ZC 106lbft @ 5700
VT 112lbft @ 7000

Peak torque at 7000rpms is just silly, at 5700 its probably the same as a ZC but below the VTEC operation its a lot less. Any VTECs i drove i was a bit disappointed in as they have a very smooth progressive build up where as the ZC was a lot more gutsy low down. Theres a lot more cog swapping with a vtec to keep it on the boil.

I really wish i had stuck my ZC on a dyno when it had the manifold and full system, was a different engine. And dare i say it faster than a vtec in the real world. It was actually faster than a 2.7 Porsche Boxster from 2nd gear to the speed limiter, BTDT many times laughing my ass off in a £600 crx :-)
