Best of luck with it Des. Sounds like a great idea with the sunroof.

That a black DC2 lurking in the background?

Got a bit of fine weather today so decided to remove the manky carpet...[:I]

Some shampoo and a bit of scrubbing....

Also got the cylinder head back:
It has been skimmed by 0.5mm
There was two hairline fractures so it was pressure tested
Valves tested and seated
New valve-stem oil seals

I was hoping to have the engine running by now but i'm still waiting on the parts.

So i decided to push the car into the shed and start touching up the bodywork, one of the biggest areas of concern was the rust damage around the sunroof lip as it had completely rotted through. So i decided to start on these places
Not gonna go with an aftermarket sunroof after all...

Rusty spot one, after rust eater has been applied

Rusty spot two, after rust eater has been applied

All fiberglassed up and ready for a skim of filler and primer

A coat of high build primer to fill in any imperfections, most of this will be sanded off again

I also repaired the corner of the bonnet, again most of the primer will be sanded off again

Hopefully get it wet-sanded, primered and sprayed tomorrow

Jesus lad, fair play to you and big respect for taking on this job.

I've an interior carpet there in very good conditon if you're interested;

Those marks on it are onlt dried in earth from the ground up at the sisters house. They're cleaned off now.

When I replaced my Sunroof I used the existing Hardware but sanded, cleaned and sprayed it before I put it back in - the sunroof on mine was bubblin with Rust so that had to go.

Tip for people: If you're using a Carbon Sunroof then don't drive at speeds with it open - 2 lads on crxuk loat theirs when they were doing a spot of "spirited driving"!!

Think i'm ok, the carpet is near mint now that it's been washed but thanks anyway buddy.
Yeah the sunroof itself is in poor enough condition. The frame assembly is rusty at the drain spouts but i should be able to repair it as the rest of it is sound.

Do you know of a good sunroof panel anywhere??

Not 2nd hand no [nor would I bother with a 2nd hand one - more than likely be rusty]

Check out www.12tune.nl - both replacements panels and bungs there.
