I've been busy with this lately. For those of you who weren't at the meet, this is where I am.....

I had 8 new wheel studs and two new front wheel bearings fitted. That tidied up the front end a bit.

I haven't been anywhere in the car, just starting it every now and then in the garden. Started it last week to find it overheating when I came out! Smoke everywhere and the temp gauge off the chart! I thought I'd cooked the engine and at the very least the head gasket was gone. I had it trailered to the garage expecting bad news. Turned out to be only small issues......

It's been sitting up for so long it's to be expected. Needed a new thermostat, rad cap and a couple of hoses were cracked. Thank feck!

I cracked on with a few interior bits that were hanging around....

I put in the Personal Box in place of the ashtray...

I had a 96 spec Type R wheel recovered in Alcantara, I threw that in.....

It's the perfect size wheel I think, not too small, suits the car too.

I fitted my Mugen pedals, one of the 'I can't believe I actually paid for those all those years ago' parts...... They're a bit of a ball ache to fit, but they actually do help, no chance of your foot slipping off...

The obligatory dash mat....

And a set of mats I got from Primerkid on the Uk forum, supposedly copies of original.

Before

After

Had the tracking done and I was off to the meet.....

Love the colour of this. So much nicer in person.. Your steering wheel is savage too. It's like something Honda should have done day one

Had this up over the Sally Gap last week. The car flew in fairness, but I'm having trouble with the extra height of the B18 on our shitee roads. Makes a huge difference now that it's on 15's and lower. Buddy Club P1's, by the way. I've not much choice, there's only 3 or 4 sets of 15's that will clear the Wilwood calipers.

Front

Back

The manifold in particular is very close to the ground. The Meister R Zeta S coilovers are great so far, comfortable enough, with great rebound and damping. Will have to fiddle with setting a bit more also. They are very low though, even on their highest setting. I can't even get in and out of my driveway!

I'm going to see if there are any options for this, springs....bushes etc...and see if I can get a tiny bit more height, that's all I'd need.

In the meantime, I've been sticking to jobs I can do in the driveway, since I'm stuck there anyway...........

New boot struts, bought off a chap on the UK forum, brand spankers, and the boot no longer eats my head when I reach in there for something.

Handy to have access, as my battery lives in the boot.....

Next up.....gearbox rebuild. All ordered now, but absolute ballache to find parts BTW..........

Are they direct fit struts? Are the plactic covers fitting over the bolt an all still?
How much did they set you back?

I never noticed the plastic lips over the arches before.. Are they some after though or original part?

Sorry Paul, didn't notice your questions there. The struts are a direct replacement, exactly the same, they come as a kit, but are a five min job. Plastic covers fit straight back over.....They we're 40 ste.

Those black lip things have been on it since it's been in the country. I haven't a notion about them. They're probably an aftermarket part in Japland to stop scrapes and such. I'm wary of taking them off since they'll probably take paint with them at this stage.....!

Will be coming off when it gets resprayed next year.
