Yea best left alone.. Although the novelty of working on a CRX again might get you doing something alright..

While I was doing my manifold I said Id drop my sump and add a sump baffle.. Its a cheap part and definately worth having on a track car..

So unbolted the sump and found a leg broken off the oil strainer/pickup and a bolt sitting in the sump!!

Heres the pickup and the bit that was broken of it

Luckly I have a spare block so got one off that this is how it should look:

Heres the sump baffle and a before and after of the sump what it'll look like once its welded in:

Before:

After:

And heres how the oil pick up will fit in there once its all bolted up:

Also to go on the sump is DEI heat reflective tape, this should help keep away heat from the sump from the manifold keeping oil temps a little lower. And a Spoon magnetic sump plug if there is any metal filings around the oil this should pick them up:

There was also a good few oil leaks around the engine so went to honda and ordered a new sump gasket, rocker cover gasket and plug o rings and the two vtec solenoid gaskets this all came to €110[:0]

I was also looking for the small gasket for the oil pickup but these are discontinued by honda[?]
So had another one there spare from a gasket set and also got a Blox Camseal cause it looks nicer and works out cheaper than an OEM honda one and seems to bee a better seal on it:

Hopefully these bits will keep the engine nice and dry now..

When Ill have the rocker cover off Ill be replacing it with a proper EF one with the Honda Motor Co.
I stripped it down cleaned it all up and preped for spraying so then tackled it with black VHT wrinkle paint:

This is as close as you'll get to the original black finish just leaving it 48hrs now to fully cure and then going to polish up the lettering on it

Heres a close up of the finish as it dries:

And with the rad/manifold setup I had to use slim fans I got a 10" fan off crx92ie but was tiny on the rad so got two 12" slimline electric ones that fit really welland wired them up to plug into the original loom

So now just getting the baffle plates welded in and a bit of welding done on the crossmember where I hammered it back for the manifold and should be ready for the re assembly[8D]

Looking good Paul.

Fans fit well too.

Nice work Chief. Nice to see you still have the heart for it in the cold weather.

Yea taking my time on stuff Gary but things are comming out pretty well so nice working on it.

Ronan: Call in the next time your passing, I put a new window and roof panels on the shed so its not bad outside in that and the last few days were dry anyway so lying on the ground outside under the CRX wasnt so bad.. Wednesday is the day for getting a few bits welded so have to get another few bits done on the CRX before then

Left the paint fully dry on the rocker cover and carefully cleaned off the writing this morning..
Love how it looks now hard to beat a clean standard EF rocker cover will be great to have it back on with the new gaskets

Spoon Carbon Kevlar Plug cover and Js Racing oil cap will be going on too
