Default nct and emissions question

I was just wondering what is the story with crx emissions do they have any? and what is it?.. I read that jap imports that old dont but said i would double check.. Also does anyone know if it changes if you go for the nct with a different engine from stock e.g 1.6 to 2.0 or do they even care.

what are the proceedings if i ever did want to declare that i have changed the engine?.. Not that i have yet..

Thanks for any help!!!

You will fail if....

1986, up to 31st December 1993, the carbon monoxide
content at idling speed is more than 3.5%.

You'd hardly fail emmissions they are giving you a huge allowance on pre 92 cars.. Any car I had 91 or older had decats and all passed (CRX Dual Carbs, si's and siR)..

If your changing engine you get a declaration in the tax office to say what youve done including colour etc.. For a swap to a 2ltr you would have to get an engineers report to declare it road worthy aka its done properly with the necessary braking upgrades etc..
No need to declare it to the NCT cause the emmission level doesnt change to engine size and it'll say it on the tax book anyway

with the engine it has and passing and after that taking most of it apart again and putting more time and money into a k20 build or do i just build k20 then go for nct.... i wont be declaring it.. crx was registered on 20-june-1997 thanks for any help

just look at the log book and for v.7 CO2 emissions it has 0 so this must mean it has no emissions to be tested on

Engine size doesn't matter for nct, (declared or not) The Co2 level is calculated on a % level of the exhaust emissions. Because its a percentage and not volume is the reason cc size doesn't effect it. Its based on a proper combustion in your engine. Its 3.5% for your car which is very easy to pass K20 or D13. My car passed a fortnight ago. It was a 93 eg6 with a h22a5 engine. Turbo was removed and I ran it off stock injectors and ecu from prelude. I believe it would have been possible to pass with the turbo too, but my exhaust exits out the front bumper, so noise would have been the issue there and by the time I'd have a new exhaust fabricated and installed, I figured, it wasn't worth it so I converted to NA for a day. It was a nice experience again. The only thing I missed was the midrange power cause it impressed me on high revs. The feckers failed me on unfocused headlights in the morning, but I got them back in the evening, Ha ha
The Hydraulic handbrake passed too, even though 3 tester's failed to understand how to release it, till I showed them.
No rear seats fitted either.
