Default JDM Gen1 (1984)

Picked up a 1983/84 JDM MKI over here in Perth last week from one of the guys on the Perth crx forum. Its not pretty but it is a really well set up car. Its a very good shell, but a few too many shades of red. It has a PGMFI high compression engine swap. D16 Browntop block and gearbox, rebuild with about 11.5 cr, blacktop head and electronic distributor, aftermarket exhaust header.

It has tokico Illumina adjustable struts front and rear, 350 lb/in rear springs adjustable. It has pop up headlights that barely work and a very strange pop up vent in the roof to circulate air inside.Fiberglass front wings and doorpods. It has a JDM digi dash which is really cool.

Not planning on keeping it too long though. Just until I get a few more jobs completed and can afford something newer. Will stick up more photos if anyone wants them but its really not much to look at.

Nice one James looks pretty cool

Any pics of the digi dash? Is it a Jap import or an original australian car?

Never knew you had gone to Oz, you planning to be there long term?

Its JDM as far as I know, has the blue vin plate in the engine bay. The digi dash wasn't original to this car, but was a JDM option. Gonna stay as long as I can mate, cheers.

Would love to pick one up with the digi dash. Seems like most cars came with them as an option in The mid 80s

Funny you don't see em retro fitted in the mkIIs, apart from the s2000. I gotta say I didn't really want this car but the dash sort of swayed me.

Nice car, well wear with it!
what are the prices of cars like over there these days? would it be worth filling a container on your way back?
i know people have done it with MKII escorts etc.
I've always liked Toyota BJ40 jeeps and datsun 240's.
