Default B16 Minor over haul

I'm preparing a B16a a engine.

I've supplied the block and Kev's supplying the head.

So I first checked out the bearings in the block.

There all perfect.
This is big end number 3

So with the crank in great condition, I proceeded to prep thetop of the block.
This is just after the head was lifted.

I always give the top of the block a light skim just to remove residue left from the headgasket. I do this with carpenter oil stone.

Getting there, slow and easy. plenty of wd40.

Finished.

Hard to argue with this type of workmanship..
Photo updates and no problem answering the phone to answer questions..

If only everyone could be so helpfull, Kev will finally get the CRX out now

Good job! when your checking things like that do you take measurements of wear or is it just a visual check for scouring, burrs etc.?

Well, please don't drive it all. If the bearings, are gone, the piston will have extra movement and can damage the head. Plus some swarf could go into the head.

If you are on about upper block deck warpage ya check that with a straight edge and feeler gauge. I'll do it yet but I've high confidence that its sound, as it didn't suffer from over heating.

If an OEM bearing looks like it has no scratch at all, its as good as day one. Basically, if a bearing wears any bit at all, its done for.
Plastic guageing is for gauge new bearings correctly.

Hope that helps.
