uk penalty points + fine

Hi lads,

Got a summons for speeding in the uk, rental car for work, 55 in a 30 zone. Hands up i was in the wrong and accept the offence

I replied by post, pleading guilty and have now received 2 letters from the court case. 1 tells me im getting 6 penalty points, the other is a 205pound fine....ouch.

I have to go over again next month for a meeting and am getting a rental again. Should i expect hassle when i fill out the forms? Should i put down the penalty points/court case thing? Its not actually on my irish licence, from what i understand, if i ever apply for a uk licence, it will transfer over. Do you think they can cross reference penalty points from this "ghost licence" to my irish licence.

Think it would have been best to have not replied from beginning. English law doesn't work here.

There is an agreement to mutually recognise penalty points, but AFAIK it hasn't been out into practice yet as there is some legal stuff to work out.

If it was me I'd pay the fine (and slow down when in the UK) and not worry about the points.

I paid the fine today (they accept laser card), i didnt want to risk getting caught especially with work visits. Just wondering will it be an issue when renting a car next time....

You'll have the points applied to a ghost licence so that if you ever get a uk or ni licence you'll get them, or so a mate of mine was told in the north a few years ago. He had to pay the fine though.

I couldn't see why you'll get issues renting again tbh.
