Default CRX Specs?

Did all Irish/UK Crxs come with sunroofs as I want one with out if possible as they seem to be prone to rusting.
Does the 1.6 16v have different engine mounts to the Vti version. Also the JDM glass roof version is the body less ridgid as a result of having a glass roof

I think sunroof were an option. I would recommend getting a Jap Import though as they are higher spec - Aircon, power wondows, powere mirrors, optional ABS and LSD. Oh, and an extra 10BHP!

Sunroofs can rust, but 12tune.nl do a replacement carbon sunroof for 250 yoyo's

I think the engine mounts are different, but mounts can be got if you want to stick a VTEC engine in one. You would be better off geting a VT to begin with though.

Firstly is the car going to be for road or track??Yes the sunroof was optional.Personally i think a crx without one is better because it causes a lot of problems with rust.Aircon can be nice for a road car but if its for track theres no point in having it cause it weights something like 20-30kg iirc. However LSD and ABS could be nice to have if it was a road or track car.

The engines mounts are different alrite but as mark said mounts can be got if ya we're putting in a vtec.It depends what kinda power ya want...torque or bhp.The 16v/Si's are a more torquey engine than the vtec but the vtec has bout 20 bhp more.

As for the Glass roof,i don't think they are less rigid tbh as the glass roof seems very hard and sturdy.Have seen pics of crx's with glass roofs rolled over on its roof and it only had a crack.I think the glass roofs are lighter than the sunroof aswell.

I'd say probably go for a tin top siR if ya have the money

Glass roof adds 10kg and Sunroof adds 20kg

http://www.cr-x.org/home/jdmspecs.html has all the details.

Oh, and if you're swapping an engine, look for a TypeR engine - costs a few bob but will give you loads of power.

Car is going to be for track & road use. Dont want air con. LSD would be needed. Looks like a tin top VT is the very least Ill be looking for.

Yup. Jap cars all come with aircon, but you can whip it out easy enough.

Read your thread on RH and I'd say that if you are going to swap a B18 into it anyway, look for a cheap Si with decent bodywork and get a B18 with LSD for it. That will give you about 195 bhp to start with - about 35 more than the SiR and 45 more than the VT!

A word of warning though - stay away from the dual carb (1.5x) - a swap into one of those is a lot of work.

You'd be well off to import one from Japan or get something like this from england, even though its very expensive http://board.hondacrx.co.uk/phpBB2/v...ic.php?t=45756[8D]cause it's hard to fing a good clean siR over here

If you looking to build a track car i'd say go for a 16v/si.

Cheaper and more p[arts available as they are popular in the us. In the past parts were available for the Sir/VT but the japanese companies have started discontinuing these items in the last few year. American comanies dont make stuff for the Sir/Vt as they never got it there.

I have an si and the suspensionj has been completely rebuit with virtually all aftermarket parts.

The extra cost of getting mounts to put a b series engine in a 16v/Si will be offset by the availbility of parts for them
