CRX brakes are gonna be bad no matter which model you have they dont seem good enough for the power in them. It would definately be worth looking into converting your rear brakes to disks from a si the difference would be unreal.
If you want stuff fitted for you could be worth asking Tuning Factory

Tuning Factory will probably recommend VTTR brakes. They use them themselves on their track cars. I got them to fit a set of VTTR pads and discs to the SiR and I have to say they're pretty good. Apparently there are metal filings in the pad and if you brake hard in the dark, you'll see them sparking. I can't say I've seen this, but like I said, I'm happy with their stopping power!

The other alternative is Ferrodo pads. These are meant to be used with the stock discs and offer a very noticeable improvement on the 16V/Si, which has notoriously poor brakes (and the dual-carb brakes are worse again as it was the only second-gen CRX with drums on the rear). Lots of the CRX-UK guys recommend these pads, but they're not cheap (about 80-100 quid sterling a set, but brakes is not an area you really want to be scrimping on).

Sorry for waffling on, hope that helps a bit, anyway.

If you want really improved braking take a look at the big brake thread on CRX UK you could gather all the parts and get a mechanic to fit the lot if you didnt want to get stuck in yourself. I wouldnt agree about converting the rears to improve braking as most of the breaking is dont by the front brakes. Thats my opinion so others will probably disagree with me.

Tuning Factorys track car CRX runs DC2 calipers front with VTTR disks and pads front and rear.
And with a DC2 master cylinder, braided lines and drained and bled system using dot 5.1 it should be strong enough for ya

Yeah, that setup will give you a flat nose real quick! Like I said, I've found the VTTR pads and discs on the SiR to be very good, I'd recommend them.

They were about 300 fitted, I think. I think he charged me very little for fitting, most of that is the cost of the bits themselves.

A little light reading for you, Joan! Even reading to first couple of paragraphs tells you a lot about brakes and how they work (actually this is a really good site, huge amount of information)
